U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – The Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) has provided the following update on airport and seaport operations as inclement weather caused by Tropical Storm Laura impacts the U.S. Virgin Islands:
• Airports are open and operating as normal today, August 22. United Airlines canceled its flight to St. Thomas, and Cape Air cancelled its flights to San Juan today. All flights are scheduled to arrive and depart as normal tomorrow, Aug. 23 – except for JetBlue, which will only have one flight between St. Thomas and San Juan. Travelers are encouraged to contact their airlines directly for flight information before arriving at the airport.
• Seaports territory-wide have been closed by the U.S. Coast Guard and are expected to remain closed until tomorrow, August 23. Silver/Seaborne did not operate its seaplane service today, Aug. 22 and cannot operate until seaports are reopened.
