Day Two of Third Annual Digital Health Summit Commences
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS— During the weekly Government House briefing conducted Tuesday at the Westin Resort & Spa at Frenchman’s Reef on St. Thomas, Communications Director Richard Motta addressed the community’s concerns about the condition of the territory’s roadways. Speaking on behalf of Governor Albert Bryan Jr., Motta said the Bryan-Roach Administration is aware of the difficulties residents are encountering while traveling on roads that require repair.
Motta held the briefing during day two of the 2024 Digital Health Summit, hosted by the Governor’s Office of Health Information Technology (OHIT). Led by OHIT Director Michelle Francis, the third annual Digital Health Summit is bringing together healthcare professionals for a 3-day event focused on strategies for technology-driven healthcare delivery in the Virgin Islands. Participants are gaining insights from subject matter experts in healthcare, technology, and health finance.
In his remarks Motta stated that the Bryan-Roach Administration has prioritized infrastructure improvements, making significant progress in repairing neglected roadways and modernizing essential systems. Ongoing challenges remain, however, especially after recent heavy rainfall that has hindered repair efforts and tested the integrity of existing infrastructure.
Motta reassured residents that more than a dozen active projects are underway to address these issues. “Despite the challenges, our dedication to improving the lives of Virgin Islanders remains strong,” he stated.
He acknowledged skepticism about government promises but emphasized the administration’s commitment to transparency and tangible results. “We are here to ensure that the Virgin Islands meet the high standards our residents deserve,” Motta added.
Motta concluded by urging residents to continue voicing their concerns and suggestions, as their feedback is crucial in shaping effective infrastructure solutions.
