As the holiday season advances, Motta expressed excitement for continuing the Governor’s Children’s Christmas Parties, a cherished tradition designed to foster joy and community spirit among Virgin Islands families, particularly those with children from newborn to 12 years of age. This year’s events will take place:

• St. Croix: Thursday, December 12th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Government House.
• St. Thomas: Saturday, December 14th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Havensight Mall.
• St. John: Monday, December 16th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Franklin Powell Sr. Park.

Reflecting on this tradition, Governor Bryan was quoted as saying, “Every year, these Christmas parties bring the community together to create joyful memories for our children.”

In addition, Motta announced the return of JetBlue Airways to St. Croix. Beginning on December 12th, the resumption of the St. Croix to Puerto Rico route marks a significant achievement in expanding airlift to the Territory. Governor Bryan said, “We are thrilled to welcome JetBlue Airways back to St. Croix as a valued partner in our efforts to expand airlift to the Territory. This route’s return benefits not only St. Croix but the entire Virgin Islands community. It plays a critical role in bolstering our tourism product, stimulating our economy, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.”

The route provides increased options for residents to reach loved ones, attend medical appointments, and conduct business in Puerto Rico, improving St. Croix’s accessibility to travelers. There is optimism for a beneficial partnership with JetBlue Airways as efforts continue to strengthen connectivity and support growth in the Virgin Islands.

Community Milestones

Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion Grand Opening
On Thursday, December 12, the Governor will join various stakeholders for the grand opening of the Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion on St. Croix at 10:00 AM. This event will celebrate the collaborative efforts that brought the project to fruition, highlighting the administration’s goal to improve the quality of life for Virgin Islanders. The Pavilion serves as a vital community facility, providing a space for events and gatherings that unite residents, enhance community ties, and foster a sense of belonging.

Petronella Solar Field Ribbon-Cutting
On Tuesday, December 17, the Governor will attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Petronella Solar Field. This significant event reflects the administration’s commitment to renewable energy, with the solar field spanning 77.6 acres and consisting of 29,100 solar panels generating 16 megawatts of clean energy. This project promotes sustainability and aims to reduce electricity costs for residents and businesses, contributing to a more resilient and self-sufficient energy infrastructure. It is a testament to the Territory’s commitment to embracing renewable resources and advancing economic growth through sustainable practices.

Community Engagement
Residents and visitors are encouraged to maintain cleanliness throughout the Territory. Concerns have been raised regarding illegal dumping and the closure of mechanic shops operating without proper permits. The administration remains dedicated to educating the public about environmental responsibilities while enforcing laws to ensure compliance. Emphasizing community cooperation, officials urge residents to actively participate in keeping the islands clean and safe. Efforts will include public awareness campaigns to promote responsible waste disposal and increased enforcement actions against violators. By working together, the community can foster a healthier environment and enhance the beauty of the Virgin Islands for residents and visitors alike.
