CHARLOTTE AMALIE- Director Designee of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Motor Vehicles Barbara Jackson-McIntosh is advising Driving Instructors and residents that effective immediately, an appointment is required to take the written test to obtain a driver’s license. The current practice of allowing test takers to walk into the testing room at any time is very disruptive and time-consuming.
Director Designee McIntosh stated “this new procedure would only affect the island of St Thomas since the St Croix and St John currently requires an appointment, a procedure that has worked very well. Instead of having to wait until a seat is available, test takers are guaranteed to be able to take their test at the time of their appointment. Often, test-takers show up when others have started taking the test. This is distracting because the invigilator must explain the testing procedure and review the testers documents which tend to be very distracting to others in the room. Director Designee further stated that to improve the service at the BMV this is one of the many changes that will be implemented in the coming months.”
We thank the public for your continued support as we continue to be of service to you.
